There has not been much good news for the travel industry for a good year now as high fuel prices gouged out a good portion of regular travel plans for a good portion of the public this past year. It does not look like there is much good news on the horizon for travel either as one of the biggest travel holidays of the year is coming up and the forecast is not looking to bright.
Airlines announced that they were cutting back over 3000 flights for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. That’s over 2.5 million less non stop seats in the air than just last year and that was only the beginning of the bad news. Looks like the majority of these 3000 flights that are being cut back are non stop flights. Which means not only can travelers expect to see fuller planes they will also see higher prices more delays and more stops to get to your destination. Oh joy sign me up for some of that!
There is does seem to be some good news for travelers this Thanksgiving, yeah we love good news! Fuel prices continue to drop finally and all indications point to that drop continuing to the holiday. This means that the option of driving to your holiday destination may be an endeavor that your wallet may be able to handle. It’s still sad that the price is in the high 2’s what’s even more sad about that is the fact that we are all happy that the price is back under $3!!! Anyway as long as the price continues to drop over the next few weeks we can all expect to see more travelers on the road at least.
Granted driving to your destination cuts down on your options for this Thanksgiving holiday. Just think of all the perks you get from driving you leave on your schedule, you can stop whenever you want, you have way better options when it comes to where you want to eat and go to the bathroom! After a summer of staycations I will be more than happy to drive a few hours to get away this Thanksgiving, see you on the road!
